They say April showers bring May flowers, but they also remind me of being in New Zealand shooting 10,000 BC a few years ago. If it wasn’t snowing, it was constantly pouring rain, and my costume was little more than a piece of cloth! I would have given anything to have one of these gorgeous cotton trenches to keep me dry and warm in between takes. While weather conditions are more appealing here in Southern California, we do get our share of April showers, so a chic trench is a must-have.

When it comes to spring essentials, a tan trench should be at the top of your list. The muted tone can be accentuated with a brilliant bag or a bold scarf, which will bring a bit of color to a dreary day. It’s a classic, timeless and completely functional look.
